Mrs. Heather Collins
Heather Watkins Collins RN is the lead school nurse for the Fayette County School System. In October of 1999, Mrs. Collins became the first school nurse to ever be employed by the Fayette County Board of Education. Nurse Collins began her school nurse career “floating” from each of the six (6) schools in the county for a couple of years. In 2001, Mrs. Collins functioned as the school nurse for Fayette Elementary School and carried on her Lead Nurse responsibilities as well until 2008. Beginning in 2008, Nurse Collins transferred to Fayette County High School and serves the students as school nurse at FCHS, while continuing her duties as Lead Nurse at the present time.
Mrs. Collins is a graduate of South Lamar High School. She is a graduate of Shelton State Community College where she received an Associate Degree in Nursing. Mrs. Collins is also a graduate of the University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing.
Before beginning her career as a school nurse, Mrs. Collins worked on the Medical/Surgical Unit at Fayette Medical Center for 2 years. Afterwards, she worked for a couple of years as a hospice nurse for Fayette Medical Center Home Care.
Mrs. Collins is married to Matt Collins and together they have two daughters Isabella and Meredith Collins.
